EMA to increase 2.5 cents on January 1st 2022

On December 10, 2021, the Bureau of Labor Statistics released the November 2021 Consumer Price Index for Urban Wage Earners and Clerical Workers (CPI-W) which established the Private Transportation Index at 249.640, an increase from the August 2021 Index of 241.773. Therefore, based on the November 2021 CPI-W release, the Equipment Maintenance Allowance (EMA) for rural carriers will increase 2.5¢ to 87.5¢ per mile.

This EMA rate will be effective January 1, 2022 (Pay Period 02-2022).

Gas is around $5.10 a gallon, not worth the EMA pay
