On March 13, 2018, the Bureau of Labor Statistics released the February 2018 Consumer Price Index for Urban Wage Earners and Clerical Workers (CPI-W) which established the Private Transportation Index at 203.13, an increase from the November 2017 Index of 199.447. As a result, the Equipment Maintenance Allowance (EMA) for rural carriers will increase by 1.0¢ to 71.0¢ per mile.

This EMA rate will be effective March 31, 2018 (Pay Period 08-2018).
