On September 11, 2020, the Bureau of Labor Statistics released the August 2020 Consumer Price Index for Urban Wage Earners and Clerical Workers (CPI-W) which established the Private Transportation Index at 200.83, an increase from the May 2020 Index of 187.467. Therefore, based on the August 2020 CPI-W release, the Equipment Maintenance Allowance (EMA) for rural carriers will increase 5.0¢ to 70.5¢ per mile.
This EMA rate will be effective September 26, 2020 (Pay Period 21-2020).
