NRLCA and USPS Sign MOU Allowing Regular Rural Carriers to Volunteer for Package Delivery on Thanksgiving Day

From NRLCA.org

Please find attached a MOU which allows for regular rural carriers where needed and wish to VOLUNTEER to deliver packages on any route(s) in the office on the Thanksgiving Holiday.

As most of you are aware there is a shortage of leave replacements in many offices. This shortage is due to several reasons, however the main reasons are COVID leave and management not doing what they can to hire.

We know that there are many of you that wish to volunteer to work on the Thanksgiving Holiday and in doing so this will possibly relieve the stress on our leave replacements.

We want to make it clear that this is strictly voluntary and regular carriers should not be forced to work. If you are forced to work, contact your district representative for direction.

Thanks for all you do! Be safe!
