NRLCA Statement on the Passing of Congressman Gerry Connolly

The NRLCA is saddened to learn of the passing of Congressman Gerry Connolly (D-VA). Throughout his years of service in Congress, Rep. Connolly has been a true champion of federal and postal workers, standing shoulder to shoulder with us in the fight to preserve and strengthen the Postal Service as a vital public institution.

His leadership, most recently as Ranking Member on the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, was instrumental in protecting six-day delivery, promoting fair working conditions, and ensuring the service millions of Americans rely on every day.

Rep. Connolly understood that the Postal Service is more than just a delivery network—it is a lifeline for communities, a critical thread in the fabric of our nation, and a symbol of public trust and service. He never wavered in his defense of our mission, our rights, and our dignity as federal workers.

As the union representing 130,000 rural letter carriers, the NRLCA is proud to have called Gerry Connolly our ally and friend. His efforts made a real and lasting difference in the lives of postal employees and the communities we serve, and he will not be forgotten. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, and staff during this difficult time.
