Rural Carrier EMA to decrease by 2.5 cents on April 2nd, 2016

This post seems to be older than 1 year— so keep that in mind while reading. It might be outdated.

On March 16, 2016, the Bureau of Labor Statistics released the February 2016 Consumer Price Index for Urban Wage Earners and Clerical Workers (CPI-W) which established the Private Transportation Index at 180.021, a decrease from the November 2015 Index which was 188.188. The decrease in the Private Transportation Index was due almost entirely to a change in the component Motor Fuel category from 192.445 (November 2015) to 155.723 (February 2016), a decrease of 36.722 (19.08%). Based on this release, the Equipment Maintenance Allowance for rural carriers will decrease by 2.5 cents to 62.0 cents per mile.

This EMA rate will be effective April 2, 2016 (Pay Period 08-2016).

Once they are received, full EMA schedules will be posted on the Rural Carrier EMA Rate Schedule page.

This means my route will be $40 a day in EMA…and I fill up with $30 every two days… So still not too too bad, I guess.

Donna Worsham

Yep. Postal service timing, impeccable as always. Gas is going back up. Jeez

Nichole Garule

Not cool when gas is going back up

Becky Ryan

Gas has gone up .50 cents a gallon here in the last week. So of course, pay us less.

Drew Brazzle

Right. It’s dumb.

I’d buy a horse but it’d just hurt it’s leg at these “perfect” boxes then I’d have to shoot it.

Mark Pearl

It was figured several weeks ago when gas was low. Gas always gets low when it’s time to determine ema.

Leland Grant

that is NOT a coincidence,
