Rural EMA to drop 5.5 cents – Effective July 4, 2020 (Pay Period 15-2020)

On June 10, 2020, the Bureau of Labor Statistics released the May 2020 Consumer Price Index for Urban Wage Earners and Clerical Workers (CPI-W) which established the Private Transportation Index at 187.467, a decrease from the February 2020 Index of 203.056. Therefore, based on the May 2020 CPI-W release, the Equipment Maintenance Allowance (EMA) for rural carriers will decrease 5.5¢ to 65.5¢ per mile.

This EMA rate will be effective July 4, 2020 (Pay Period 15-2020).
