Official Obituary of Kyle Michael Poppiti

In Loving Memory of Kyle Michael Poppiti

May 30, 2002 – May 31, 2025

With broken hearts, we announce the passing of Kyle Michael Poppiti, age 23, who left this world far too soon on Saturday, May 31, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with mental health.

Born in Newark, Delaware, Kyle was kind, witty, and deeply thoughtful. He brought laughter to those around him and always had time to listen, even when his own heart was heavy. He was passionate about sports and was a big fan of the Philadelphia Seventy Sixers, Kyle found joy in the little things and had a way of making others feel seen and understood.

Kyle was fiercely loved by his family and friends. He is survived by his parents, Michelle Oldham and Anthony Poppiti; stepparents, Ian Oldham and Mary Poppiti; grandparents, Sharon Lewandowski, Elizabeth and Walt Ennis and Michael Poppiti; siblings, AJ Poppiti, Gianna Poppiti and Elle Oldham; close friends, Luke Schiavoni, Collin McLaughlin and Sam Janicki; pets, Birk, Annie, Reggie and Brownie; and countless others whose lives he touched with his warmth and authenticity. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, James Lewandowski and grandmother, Sandy Poppiti.

Mental health challenges are invisible battles, and Kyle fought his with strength and quiet resilience. Though he is no longer with us, his story does not end here. It continues in the love he gave, the memories he made, and the conversations we must keep having.

Kyle’s life will be honored on Thursday, June 12 at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Pike Creek, Wilmington, Delaware 19808.  Family and friends are invited to visit from 9:30 – 11:00AM.  A remembrance service will begin at 11:00AM, immediately followed by interment at All Saints Cemetery, 6001 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, Delaware 19808.
