On Friday, Jan. 12, at 4:21 p.m., Sumner County Sheriff deputies were dispatched to the 100 block of East 60th Ave. for a vehicle lying on its top, submerged in a creek.

When they arrived, they found a person in the vehicle and removed him from the water. David Troutman of Wellington was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to the sheriff’s press release, the investigation revealed that Troutman was traveling eastbound on 60th Ave. when he left the roadway and continued east through the south ditch.

His vehicle passed over a creek and struck the bank on the east side; the vehicle came to a rest on its top, submerged in the water.

Troutman was driving a 2005 Honda CRV.
