Latest Clarification on COVID Leave and the expiration of the Families First Corona Virus Relief Act (FFCRA)

Subject: Latest Clarification on COVID Leave and Families First Corona Virus Relief Act (FFCRA)

Good Afternoon,

As you know, the FFCRA expires on December 31, 2020. We have been in discussion with Labor Relations at USPS HQ and here is the current position at the National level:

Any rural carrier who is no longer eligible for FFCRA Leave or has exhausted their FFCRA Leave, and is asked or required by USPS to quarantine due to COVID exposure will be compensated with Administrative Leave until cleared to return to work under the attached RTW Guidelines.

A regular rural carrier or PTF who is actually diagnosed with COVID-19, or showing symptoms, will have to use their own personal sick leave until their return to work under the attached RTW Guidelines. An RCA who is actually diagnosed with COVID-19, or showing symptoms, will have to use their own personal sick leave or the leave granted under the recently extended Paid Leave for RCAs MOU until their return to work under the attached RTW Guidelines.

These policies are subject to change as the pandemic situation evolves.

Yea I’m thinking the rural regular carrier is getting shafted on this discussion we have worked our b**ts off and now if we happened to get it we must use our leave to get paid and we have to go to customers homes whom may have it but yea we work our b**ts off and don’t get anything in recognition for it not even an employee appreciation or a thank you

I tested negative and the post office mandated me to quarantine for 14 days. I showed this to them but they still refuse to pay me administrative leave. What do I do?

So carriers who had to quarantine in 2020 get the 80 hours of pay, but carriers who get it in 2021 do not. How is that fair when the pandemic is now worse than it was in ‘20? Is our union fighting for us on this? This will cause carriers to come to work sick.
