The bipartisan legislation would allow disabled veterans who enter the federal workforce 104 hours of sick leave for medical visits related to service-related injuries and disabilities in their first year.Jeanette Dwyer, President of the National Rural Letter Carriers’ Association, issued the following statement regarding introduction of this bill:”This legislation provides disabled veterans with the protection they need to willingly enter as a federal employee while still being able to address their medical needs. As an employer of many veterans, we hope that this legislation will encourage veterans to join the Postal Service.”The NRLCA endorses similar legislation that has been introduced in the House of Representatives by Representatives Butterfield, Cummings, Farenthold and Lynch.
