Ohio Rural Carrier ejected, killed in crash; collision under investigation

WADSWORTH TOWNSHIP, OH (WOIO) – A mailman died tragically when his truck overturned during a violent two-car crash in Wadsworth on Wednesday.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Randy Irwin, 59, of Macedonia, was pulling into traffic on his mail route along SR 94 when he was struck from behind by Danielle Ullman, 31, of Doylestown.

Irwin’s truck careened off the road and overturned; he was partially ejected in the collision.

Irwin died on scene and was transported to the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s office.

Ullman was taken to Wadsworth Rittman Hospital and sustained minor injuries.

Alcohol or drugs are not suspected at this time. Ullman was wearing her seat belt at the time of the crash, but Irwin was not.

The Medina County Sheriff’s Office and Wadsworth Township Fire and EMS assisted on scene.

I am a Rural Carrier and understand the dangers of this job. This is a very tragic situation. My thoughts and prayers go out to all who have been affected by this tragedy.
