Rural carrier aids customer who slipped on ice

Rural Carrier Judy Kehn was delivering mail on a March day in Roscommon, MI, when she heard someone screaming for help and saw an unattended dog wandering around.

Kehn stopped and found an older customer who’d fallen on ice in a driveway while taking her pet outside.

The Postal Service employee immediately called 911 for the woman, who had been stranded in pain for over an hour, and borrowed a blanket from a neighbor to help the customer warm up.

Emergency responders soon arrived to provide further assistance.

The woman, who broke her femur, recovered from incident.
