Asheville, NC, Rural Carrier Tracy Siler became concerned when she noticed a customer hadn’t retrieved his mail for a few days. She knocked on his door and heard noises inside but no one answered.
Siler, suspecting the customer needed help, called the local police department. Officers entered the home and found the man had suffered a stroke a few days earlier.
One deputy said the customer probably wouldn’t have survived another day if Siler hadn’t intervened.
The man is now recovering in a rehabilitation center.
