A rural route mail carrier was killed in a two-vehicle wreck near Union Valley Tuesday morning.
The wreck occurred at 8:56 a.m. at the intersection of state Highway 3 and County Road 3610. Debra Godbey, 59, of Ada was delivering mail in her vehicle and driving south on CR 3610 when she failed to yield the right of way from a stop sign at the intersection, according to Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper Wil Hayden.
Godbey pulled into the path of a Ford F25O pickup driven west on SH 3 by Brian Flatt, 43, of Stonewall, Hayden said.Godbey was thrown from the vehicle during the collision.
She was being taken by Mercy EMS to Mercy Hospital Ada when she died en route, Hayden said.Flatt went by private vehicle to be treated and released from a local hospital for minor injuries.Pontotoc County sheriff’s deputies and firefighters from Ada and Union Valley also responded.

No no llv was involved. Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers she was a really good friend of mine. we started working at the post office around the same time and have been RCAs for almost 8 years. She was a very hard worker and loved her job as a mail carrier. She will be missed dearly.
