USPS rural carriers frustrated with new pay system leading to pay cuts on most routes

The Postal Service is telling lawmakers that rural carriers have the resources they need to ensure fair compensation under a new pay system that’s been in the works for more than a decade.

But Senate Democrats and rural carriers facing pay cuts say USPS and its union have given them insufficient training on the Rural Route Evaluated Compensation System (RRECS) that went into effect last month.

About two-thirds of rural carriers nationwide are facing substantial pay cuts under the RRECS system. Many carriers have been told their pay will be cut by several thousand dollars annually, while delivering mail and packages on the same routes they’ve had for years.

Time for about 10,000 of us to look at withdrawing from this useless union. When they lose $8 million a year in dues, they’ll have to hold their luxury conventions at a Hotel 6 instead of the Four Seasons.

I just received my worthless union magazine and no where in it was anything about the ongoing fight about the rrecs implementation. Nothing but silence.

I actually fell in the small percent that went up in evaluation.. however the post office has f***** me out of thousands of dollars in the past and the union didn’t back me and now seeing this….. I’m done! I will be dropping the union come August on my anniversary. I guess you can call me a scab but idc. The union doesn’t have a backbone when it comes to protecting us!

I don’t see them helping anybody. In our magazine they say there’s nothing more to say than what’s been said already and that it was up to each of us to become more knowledgeable on our own. A little late I would say. Thank god , I think, that my route has been so underpaid for 6 plus years that my route actually stayed a 48K. It’s been a 48K since the last count but I’ve been paid 45K thanks to the inept*tude of my former supervisor. My route just became 48K when fss was eliminated.

Do you guys ever think that management may have access to manipulating RRECS in their own office??
I overheard a manager ask a co-worker if he had such and such number of item the day prior and my co-worker said that he pressed that b**ton by accident and the manager said I thought so and I was about to remove it anyway 🤔

If you’re a union member, QUIT ASAP! File a PS Form 1188, Cancellation of Organization Dues from Payroll Withholdings, to cancel dues withholding.
