MOU Signed to Allow Regular Carriers to Volunteer to Work on Sundays and to Volunteer to Provide Assistance on Other Routes

On August 15, 2025, the NRLCA and the USPS signed an MOU to allow regular carriers to volunteer to work on Sundays and to volunteer to provide assistance on other routes in the office. No carrier will be required to perform either of these duties. All work performed in accordance with this MOU shall be paid at the overtime rate.

This is similar to previous MOUs we have signed on the temporary modification of Article 8.1 and to Article 30.1.P with one major exception: this MOU is for the current term of our collective bargaining agreement and will not expire until May 20, 2027. The National Board has determined this MOU benefits carriers who wish to volunteer and provides compensation at the overtime rate. This does not relieve the Postal Service of their contractual obligation to hire leave replacements.
