After 40 dedicated years of service, Johnny Downs has officially retired from his role as rural postal carrier, leaving behind a legacy of commitment and excellence, according to postmaster Connie Walker.

Downs was known for his unwavering commitment to his job, always arriving on time and rarely missing a day of work. Whether it was delivering mail in inclement weather, checking on his homebound customers or going the extra mile to ensure a box was fixed and in good condition, Downs always put his customers first, Walker said.

Over the years, Downs became a familiar face in the Bostic community, forging strong connections with residents who appreciated his friendly demeanor and reliability.

“As he embarks on this new chapter, Johnny leaves behind not only a remarkable career but also a community grateful for his service,” Walker said.
