A contracted Amazon delivery driver who was allegedly armed with two guns, a large knife, and a bulletproof vest told detectives he shot a U.S. Postal Service worker in the head as an act of self-defense during an altercation in the mailroom of an Everett apartment complex, newly-released arrest documents reveal.

The Amazon contractor, identified as 26-year-old Blake Michael Kuhlman, was arrested Friday after Everett police responded to a shooting in the 9300 block of West Mall Drive around 1 p.m.

In an arrest report, Kuhlman admitted to the shooting when questioned by detectives.

In the arrest report, police quote the following from the witness’s statement.

“I saw the mailroom door close and an argument between the USPS man and the Amazon man. The USPS man shoved the Amazon driver and shouted ‘Why the f*** are you shoving me? The Amazon driver then pulled out a pistol and shot the USPS man in the head.”

Detectives said Kuhlman told them he was being “cyberstalked” by the mafia, and he had “suspicions that the USPS worker may have been a mafia assassin.”

“(Kuhlman) also reported having been priorly shot by both rifles and crossbows while on the job delivering packages, but that he had never reported this to the police as there was no evidence, and this was why he was wearing the plate carrier at the time of his arrest,” the arrest report states.

Kuhlman was booked into the Snohomish County Jail on a charge of first-degree assault. Kuhlman appeared in court Monday afternoon. Prosecutors argued that Kuhlman is a public safety risk and asked for bail to be set at $1 million, which a judge agreed to.
