RCA rural carrier dies in Illinois crash

Will County authorities say a U.S. Postal Service driver has been killed in a crash southwest of Chicago.

The county coroner’s office said 48-year-old Daniel McGuire of Channahon died Thursday. A Will County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman says McGuire drove his mail truck off a road and onto the shoulder before crossing the center line and striking a Culligan water truck head-on near Joliet. McGuire was pronounced dead at the scene.

The coroner’s office says an autopsy is scheduled. It’s unclear what caused McGuire to lose control of the vehicle
