RRECS Implementation Postponed

Today, the NRLCA and the Postal Service agreed to postpone the implementation of the Rural Route Evaluated Compensation System. The Mini Mail Survey scheduled to begin September 10, 2022 has been cancelled.

The reason for the postponement is simple. The Postal Service has failed to provide this Union will the data necessary to validate the RRECS system’s data collection and route evaluation calculations. This validation was mandated to be accomplished to the satisfaction of both parties by the Engineering Panel, before RRECS is implemented.

Despite the Union’s filing of a Step 4 Grievance on May 23, 2022 insisting that the Panel’s Final Determination be followed and data be provided for validation, as of today, the Union has still not been provided key data points, such as pre-sorted flats.

We understand that the reaction to this postponement will certainly be mixed. However, your NRLCA National Board was faced with no choice but to delay implementation and possible negative changes to the paychecks of thousands of rural carriers based on hidden data sources and untested processes.

  1. The union is worthless!!! Between this and getting our back pay we are getting screwed! The postal service has to be greasing their palms.

  2. Meantime under evaluated routes such as mine continue to be under paid!! I was ready to walk out today leaving the post office with yet another vacant route when I heard about this!! How about our crappy union fight for back pay for routes like mine!! I inherited this route and its the most under evaluated route in my office!! I’ve been anxiously waiting for it to finally pay me what I should be paid!! Now you’ve screwed me over once again!!!

  3. How convenient for them… They pushed it passed the holidays so as not to have to pay us for increased package volume!

  4. I know some people are pissed but there were too many unanswered questions. We have absolutely no way of validating anything that was collected with these scanners. We were left with just trusting management and I wouldn’t trust them if they told me the sun was shining.

  5. A few posts down it was mentioned that we will be getting our long awaited back pay on Oct 28. That is not true, the APWU employees will be getting their back pay on that date, we of course are NRLCA employees and no back pay date has been announced as of this post. I wish it were true but it is not. The NRLCA filed a step 4 grievance on Aug 12 and that is where we currently stand.

  6. I understand why they had to cancel, but why wait 2 weeks before the count!? Talk about last minute! They should have nipped this in the butt when we started these scans! Now, the 30% with amazon have to suffer longer
