Rural mail carriers worried about dramatic pay cuts

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – Some rural mail carriers in the Lowcountry are concerned about a dramatic pay cut that recently went into effect. They believe the cut in pay means issues with mail not being delivered for days due to a lack of available employees could get even worse.

“A lot of carriers have lost tens of thousands of dollars every year, which really impacts their lives,” said one local postal worker who did not want to be identified.

  1. They really should have done an “old school” manual count last year so carriers could make an apples to apples comparison of why their numbers changed.

  2. If you’re a union member, QUIT ASAP! File a PS Form 1188, Cancellation of Organization Dues from Payroll Withholdings, to cancel dues withholding.

  3. The form 1188 only works for the old timers who signed the old form for dues withholding. Everyone else who signed the form that is irrevocable for a year, is stuck with the 10 day window prior to their anniversary date. You still use the 1188, but only during the 10 day window

  4. Since rural carrier pay is going down because of the unions agreement with the postal service does that mean union dues from all members will go down? Or will the NRLCA union still receive that same union due amount from each of it’s union members paycheck each pay period??

  5. Look at our latest financial statement in the rag they mail to us. Hotels, meals, and transportation increased ten fold year over year. That’s where our dues are going. Don’t bother asking why, you won’t get an answer.

  6. 15 minutes can save you $800/year. Just get out of this shit union when your next exit period comes up.
