Step 4 Settlement on Refueling of Government Vehicles

This case involved management requiring rural carriers to refuel more frequently than provided in the refueling allowance. The parties agree there may be instances where local policy requires rural carriers to refuel more frequently than provided in the refueling allowance. The parties further agree that in these situations, additional compensation may be warranted.

  1. jeez another weak missive,k from kangaroo jenner [ oops joey johnson] HEY JOEY HOW MANY THINGS THAT WE NEED DO YOU GIVE AWAY IN ONE DAY ANYWAY???

  2. Compensation? For fueling up the LLVs? You mean like we are being compensated (NOT) for all the damned scanner interruptions?

    • It is in the USPS vehicle allowance. In the equation to determine how much time we’re allotted, they use 100 as if we fuel every 100 miles. Some offices require carriers to refuel at 1/2 tank which would obviously be under that 100 miles per fueling. For a low mileage (i.e. 10 miles) route, it’s not a big deal since they are given 30 minutes minimum. If you’re a higher mileage route (i.e. 40 miles) you’re fueling almost daily due to mgmt requirement & not being paid fully for your time. Glad I don’t have this issue. 26 miles a day (21 mi route + deviations) and if subs use it on Sunday, they have to fill it up.

    • In my situation, I put in about 7-9 gallons everyday. There is no way to get around the route twice in one tank of gas. Therefore I need to fill up everyday. But I only get paid to do it every other day:(
