SUV driver charged with meth possession after crash that killed postal carrier Ronald Bethard JR

MCLEAN COUNTY (25News Now) – The driver of a sport utility vehicle involved in a crash that killed a postal carrier in southwest Bloomington earlier this week was allegedly in possession of methamphetamine, but it’s not known yet if he was under the influence of the drug when the crash happened.

The McLean County State’s Attorney’s Office on Tuesday charged Jeremy Williams, 43, from McLean with possession of less than five grams of meth, which is a felony.

Williams was also cited for failing to reduce speed to avoid the accident that happened about 10:30 a.m. Monday near the intersection of Beich Road and Ashley Drive.

Police said Williams’ SUV collided with the postal vehicle, killing Ronald Bethard Jr. 36, of Pontiac.

Officers said they found a small amount of meth and a glass pipe during a search of the SUV.
