Revillo rural carrier gets a big stamp of approval

Brian Sime of Revillo spent his birthday Monday doing what he loves: Driving around the countryside delivering the mail to his friends and neighbors.

Sime is the reigning South Dakota’s Rural Letter Carrier of the Year. He has driven his mail route around Revillo for more than 35 years. Before that, it was his father who drove the route, making it more than 70 years that the route has been in the family.

Sime’s route includes about 165 families and covers about 145 miles, most on gravel roads. After spending about 1½ hours at the Revillo post office, he takes about five hours to do the route.

Sime told KXLG News it doesn’t feel like a job.
