The NRLCA has learned about an egregious payroll error this pay period affecting more than 45,000 rural carriers. We have had multiple discussions with the USPS yesterday and into the night. All affected carriers will be entitled to salary advances on Friday. The proper amounts of what carriers should be paid will be sent to the offices so local managers will not have to attempt to calculate it; they simply need to process the salary advance on a money order, so rural carriers get paid on Friday.
We are demanding that this process is completed without any carrier being hassled or asked to forgo the salary advance. All offices are being made aware this is NOT optional and to have plenty of money orders on hand. There are over 45,000 rural carriers who have missing or partial checks; it is absolutely NOT acceptable. According to the USPS, the issue that caused this problem has been located and a fix is already in process, so this will not happen again.
All impacted carriers will receive 65% of their gross pay, that number calculates closely to the average net take home. Rural carriers will not be required to pay it back until the Postal Service has repaid them the correct amount. Please remember, while we understand carriers have done 100% of the work, the “take home pay” is not 100% of the gross pay.
Unfortunately, while the NRLCA has attempted to bargain for 100% of EMA to be paid as that is a reimbursement for the use of carriers’ privately owned vehicles that has already occurred, that is not currently a contractual right. It will certainly be an issue for collective bargaining as we move forward into contract negotiations.

I can’t even begin to start the discussion on what a giant pile of s*it this is. Looks like I’ll be one of the 45k not getting paid but they’re giving offices all this money to pay us partial slap in the face paychecks why couldn’t they just write us all paper checks? All of it makes no sense and it should be illegal. And like the other person said what about all the over draft fees people will get for bills auto deducted every pay period? They have to know they are screwing over an already over worked and disgruntled work force & honestly…. just add it to the list of reasons I don’t blame people for not wanting to work here. Anyways…. guess we’ll see.

I am one of the RCAs that did not get paid. My postmaster texted me today and said he was told not to process adjustment for “missing” hours and that HQ is still working on a solution.
My ema is a large part of my income since rrecs screwed me over and the union refuses to answer my calls let alone help me… F*ck me I guess ????????♀️ How is this legal?!
This is gonna be nightmare trying to paychecks correct after this.. I got ton of overtime on this check because we have routes with no carriers.. I work my route then go and work another route.. Nobody and I mean nobody wants to be a carrier anymore. Someone dropped a huge bomb of dumba$$ gas. Cannot believe this.
Everyone needs to sign the petition to decertify the union, if this doesn’t do it what will?!
Most banks (if you have an account with them), major grocery stores, and a few other businesses (i.e. walmart) will cash money orders.

Once again you sheepish Rural Carriers have been screwed by your Union the NRLCA! I’ve already been told by TACS personnel that we aren’t paying these affected carriers until the end of September. That is about the time you will learn how much your next salary cut will be. I bet your Union received your dues allotment on time!
