Rural carrier earns praise from rescued customer’s family

Rural Carrier Jennifer Winfrey was recently on duty in Minden, LA, when she heard an older customer yelling for help.

Winfrey rushed to aid the woman, who had fallen inside her home and sustained multiple lacerations.

The Postal Service employee immediately called the customer’s son, at her request, and rendered first aid until he arrived.

When he got there, he called 911, and Winfrey continued to aid and comfort the woman until emergency responders arrived.

The son later gave the local postmaster a letter expressing the family’s appreciation for Winfrey’s actions.

“She is a fine example of a compassionate individual who loves her people on her route,” he wrote. “We thank her and are so grateful.”

The customer recovered from the incident.
