Rural Carrier rescues stranded customer

Rural Carrier Associate Monica Castillo was recently making deliveries in Riverbank, CA, when she came upon an older customer experiencing a crisis.

Castillo heard the woman screaming for help because her motorized wheelchair had gotten stuck in the doorway of her home, leaving her stranded for several hours.

The Postal Service employee safely transferred the customer to a porch chair and moved the wheelchair onto a level surface nearby.

The woman, a retired postal worker who was distressed by the duration of the incident, thanked Castillo for providing life-saving assistance.
