Rural carrier saves distressed driver from dangerous direction

heroJulieGould_RightAlignd-storyJulie Gould, a rural carrier in Charlotte, VT, was recently delivering mail when she noticed a car parked alongside a road.

She grew concerned when she saw that the driver was slumped over the steering wheel, so she immediately stopped to check on the woman.

Gould found the driver to be in medical distress, bleeding from her mouth, and flagged down a passerby to call 911.

The Postal Service employee stayed with the woman and comforted her until emergency responders arrived.

“If Julie hadn’t stopped when she did, the situation could have ended up differently,” said local Postmaster Susan Steves.
